LTTE showed maximum flexibility in accepting joint mechanism proposal - Thamilchelvan

Although the proposed joint mechanism for post-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction did not fully meet the requirements necessary to facilitate recovery efforts in NorthEast to proceed unhindered, the LTTE accepted the proposal in view of the urgency demanded by the situation in NorthEast, Mr. S. P. Thamilchelvan, LTTE's political head told Swedish Minister for Development Cooperation, Ms. Carin Jamtin, when he met with the Minister in Stockholm Tuesday, sources said.
In a separate meeting the LTTE delegation met with Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) officials, Mr. Jan Bjerninger, Director of SIDA's Asia Department, Mr. Samuel Egerö, Ms. Katarina Zinn and Mr. Ola Hällgren, sources close to the LTTE in Stockholm said. Discussions centered around post-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction in the North East, sources added. Mr. P. Nadesan, Head of Tamil Eelam Police, accompanied Mr. Thamilchelvan along with Mr. S. Puleedevan, Secretary General of the LTTE Peace Secretariat and Ms. P. Geetha, Deputy Head of LTTE women's political division. SIDA is a government agency that reports to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. SIDA is responsible for most of Swedens contributions to international development cooperation.
