Vadamaradchchi North Fisheries Societies Federation Wednesday decided to conduct a protest march on March 28 demanding the removal of 100 meter buffer zone, condemning the reintroduction of pass system by the security establishment for fishing and requesting the government to allow resettlement in high security zones, civil sources said.
The protest march, which is to begin from the Point Pedro bus stand Monday morning would arrive in front of the Point Pedro division secretariat office via Jaffna Point Pedro road and hand over a memorandum of civil authorities. Thereafter the protest march would proceed to the office of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission, which is located at Kurumbasidy. Organisers would hand over another memorandum to the SLMM officials, sources said.
