TECH Official departs for European tour

Sivalingam Suhunan, Executive Director of the Economic Consultancy House (TECH), a Sri Lanka Government registered NGO which works exclusively in NorthEast, left for a 4-week tour of European Countries Wednesday morning, sources from Kilinochchi said. The iterinery for the privately funded visit includes Norway, Denmark, France and Germany, sources added.
 "The visit is intended to finalize funding proposals many European Agencies and private donors had arranged with TECH while visiting our Head Office in Iranaimadu, Kilinochchi in the wake of the 26th December Tsunami," Mr Suhunan told TamilNet on the eve of his departure. When asked to describe the type of projects TECH is involved in, Suhunan said: "We are involved in technology driven large scale projects that bring economic benefit to NorthEast region as well as small scale projects that raise the income levels of rural folks by providing new employment opportunities. "In addition, we are very much involved in providing vocational training and Information Technology education to create a skilled workforce for the anticipated infrastructure development of NorthEast," he said. TECH obtains financial support from iNGOs and encourages collaborative business ventures with expatriate Tamils, according to officials.
