NorthEast pre-school teachers compete for honors

Pre-school teachers from five regions in the NorthEast province vied for honors in general knowledge test conducted by the Pre-School Development Organization to mark its 10th anniversary since its establishment with a mission of improving the education standards of pre-school children in NorthEast, sources from Kilinochchi said. Pre-school development falls under the administration of Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), an NGO registered with the Government of Sri Lanka which works exclusively in the NorthEast.

Written tests lasing an hour were organized in five centers in Pre-school teachers in took the tests in five centres Friday.

21 Sinhala medium teachers sat for the exams at Parakum Maha Vidyalayam in Iratperiyakulam, 18 pre-school teachers from Vavuniya urban district had their tests at Gamini Maha Vidyalayam. 32 teachers from Poonthottam region at Kalaimagal Pre-school, 24 teachers from Poovarankulam region sat for tests at Veppankulam Common Hall and 35 Chettikulam pre-school teachers competed in the tests.

TRO plans to award special prizes and gift certificates to teachers who are judged as winners, sources said.
