Sivaram murder suspect remanded till June 20[TamilNet, Tuesday, 14 June 2005, 13:31 GMT]One of the suspects in connection with the assasination of veteran journalist Dharmeratnam Sivaram was remanded till June 20 at the Kaduwela Magistrate courts on Tuesday, legal sources said. The suspect who is believed to be an ex-PLOTE cadre was brought to the courts Tuesday morning with heavy security and was produced before the Magistrate Champa Janaki Perera by a Special Police team investigating the murder. An identification parade will also be held when the suspect is produced before the Magistrate again on June 20, legal sources said. Another suspect was released by the courts as he was found no involvement in the assasination of Sivaram. The Kaduwela courts premises was heavily guarded when the suspect was brought there, sources said. Legal sources said the Courts barred media from using names of suspects. Journalists had initially assembled at the Mount Lavinia Courts where the hearing was orignally scheduled.
