Training school exhibition held in Ariviyal Nagar

Exhibition and one year anniversary of Work Training School for war affected children located in Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi was held Thursday. The school is administered by the Rural Economic, Education Research and Development Organization (REERDO) and was built with funding from International Labor Organization (ILO). Director of the Training School, Mr Sivarajah, presided the event.
Senior Member of the Liberation Tigers, V Balakumaran lit the common flame of sacrifice and Deputy Head of LTTE's Political Wing, S Thangan hoisted the Tamil Eelam flag during the opening ceremony. Deputy Director of Tamil Rehabilitation Organization, Ravichandran, Director of The Economic Consultancy House (ECH), M Sunderamoorthy, LTTE military commander, Bhaskaran, Officer of PreSchool Development Organization, Pandiyan, and ILO's Planning Officer, Joseph, lit the ceremonial lamp. Clothing and other products created by trainees at the school were displayed at the exhibition halls at the school. Mr Thangan praised the officials of the school for identifying the needs of the people and providing training to future workers to fulfill the needs of the society. He also said that the efforts of organizations supporting these projects and the resulting benefits for the war affected children serve as a reminder and testimony to those who complain of recruitment of children by the LTTE. Thangan said that if organizations help to fulfull childrens and create facilities for them to focus and gain skills to progress in life, they will be no reason for children to join the LTTE. Balakumaran said that in addition to skills training organizations should also work to create the proper market environment where the small scale industries can thrive. The even concluded with awards of certificates to exhibition participants and cultural events.
