Ex TELO cadre shot and killed in Vavuniya

Unidentified gunmen shot and killed a former Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO) cadre in Kurumankadu, around 1.5 km. west of Vavuniya around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, Vavuniya Police Officer In-Charge (OIC) Mr. A.M.C. Abeyasinghe Banda said. The killing took place in a populous area, close to UNHCR office in Vavuniya.

The victim, identified as Mr. Mathy, 30, was shot twice in his head with a 9 mm. handgun, Police said.

Meanwhile, the TELO office in Vavuniya said that Mr. Mathy, who is from Maharambai kulam in Vavuniya, had left their organisation a few months ago.

The Vavuniya District Judge, Mr.M. Ilanchelian, who visited the crime scene ordered the Police to investigate the killing.
