Jaffna Kachcheri area searched

The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) conducted intense cordon and search operations in Vadamaradchi, Madduvil and near the Jaffna Kachcheri on Sunday, said sources. The SLA cordoned off Karaveddi, Nelliady, Rajakiramam, Arasadi, etc. from the early hours of the morning around 4 a.m.

More than two thousand people were herded to the premises of Thiruiruthayanathar Church for screening in front of hooded informants. Of these, nine persons were taken away by the SLA for further interrogation.

The search operation went on till 11 a.m. said sources.

On Saturday, following an attack on the SLA in Madduvil, hundreds of families from the area were called to the premises of Madduvil Mahaviththiyalayam (school) for interrogation and screening.
