Lt.Col.Sekhar's fifth anniversary commemorated in Kilinochchi

The fifth death anniversary of Lt Col Sekhar, a special commander attached to the Charles Antony Special Brigade, was commemorated on Sunday with a Memorial Volley Ball tournament followed by a cultural event held at the premises of the Charles Antony Memorial builidng located near the Kovinthan Junction Kilinochchchi, sources in Kilinochchi said. Lt Col Sekhar succumbed to the wounds received during the Unceasing Waves-4 (Oyatha Alaigal) battle on the 23 October 2000.
Head of Charles Antony Brigade Administrative Secretariat, Mr Kumuthan, presided the events. Head of Charles Antony Brigade Administration, Thamilarasan, lit the ceremonial flame at the start of the event. Former Special commander and Senior Commander for the Northern Region Charles Antony Brigade, Veeramani, hoisted the Tamileelam flag. Brother of Lt Col Sekhar, Kannan, lit the flame of sacrifice for the memorial photo and Head of Charles Antony Attach Group, Commander Prathapan, lit the flame of sacrifice for the photographs of other martyrs displayed in the memorial building. Attendees to the events then paid floral tributes to the martyrs. The Southern Regional Brigade beat the Central Regional Brigade in the finals of the Volley Ball tournament and received the winners shield from Lt Col Muhunthan. Residents of the area, LTTE cadres and several LTTE commanders participated in the event.
