Swiss Tamils organize Heroes Day Elocution Contest

Students of Tamil schools in Switzerland will compete in a country wide elecution contest organized by Education Service Unit of Tamils to commemorate the Heroes Day. Organizers have selected the topics related to Tamil History and Culture for students competing in eight different age groups. Regional winners will compete in the finals to held in Zurich on 20 November, organizers said.

SwitzerlandCompetitors in the 17 and 19 age groups, have to prepare their own speeches on topics "Maamanithar Sivaram," and "Younger generation of Swiss Tamils," organizers said.

For competitors in 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 age groups the text of the speeches have already been prepared by the organizing committee. Topics ranged from "Tamil National Flower, Kaarthigaipoo," "Education in Mother tongue," "Tsunami" "Tamileelam National Leader," and "Tamil culture."

Winners in the National and Regional competition will receive their awards during the Heroes Day celebrations to be held in Fribourg on 27 November, the organizers announced.
