LTTE, SLMM meet in Pallai

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 21 December 2005, 01:03 GMT]
Recent attacks by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers on unarmed civilians have made Tamil people lose all confidence in the peace process and in the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA), C.Ilamparithy, Jaffna district political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Tuesday told a two-member delegation of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) Tuesday at the LTTE's political secretariat in Pallai. The pattern of attacks clearly indicates that the attacks were premeditated, Ilamparithy further told the SLMM.

As long as sexual harassment, indiscriminate attacks and desecration of LTTE memorials continue there will be violence in Jaffna. Tamil people have reached the limit of their patience, Ilamparithi told the SLMM.

Mr.Ilamparithy told the SLMM that the LTTE is still committed to uphold the ceasefire agreement irrespective of violations by the Sri Lankan armed forces. Mr.Ilamparithy requested the SLMM to bring the violations of the SLA to the notice of the international community and to take positive steps to contain further violations by the SLA, sources said.

Mr.Aan, Jaffna district head of the SLMM delegation, said that the SLMM is carefully watching the Jaffna situation, adding that they will take all possible steps to facilitate both sides to observe the CFA without violations, sources said.
