Sri Lanka Police officer injured in Batticaloa grenade attack

M. Ansar, 34, a Sri Lanka Police Constable, was injured in a grenade attack by unknown assailants at Arasady Junction in Batticaloa Town at 10.45 a.m. Monday, Batticaloa Police said.

The incident happened in front of Peoples Bank, Batticaloa, where Mr Ansar was stationed on security duty.

Injured constable was rushed Batticaloa hospital and is receiving treatment there, hospital sources said.

Battialoa police sources said two men riding a motorbike men hurled the grenade at the security stand.
