Ashraff demands regional education office in Amparai

A regional office of the North East Education Ministry should be opened in Amparai without delay in order to facilitate teachers and principals of the district to fulfill their needs without traveling to Trincomalee and Colombo, said Minister Ms Ferial Ashraff at an event held in Amparai during the weekend, sources said.

She made the request in the presence of Minister of Education Mr.Susil Premajayanth at this event where letters of permanent appointment to 227 volunteer-teachers serving in several schools in the district for several years.

She brought to the notice of the Education Minister that teachers and principals are forced to travel more than three hundred km to Trincomalee town where the NE Education Ministry is located to solve their official problems or to Colombo to meet central ministry officials, sources said.

NE Education Ministry has zonal directors and District Directors of Education in all the nine educational districts in the North East, sources said.

Ms Ferial Ashraff, wife of the late leader Mr.A.H.M.Ashraff is the leader of the National Unity Alliance (NUA), a constituent in the current ruling party.
