Kilinochchi Central College holds Inter-house Sports Meet

Killinochchi Central College held its Inter-house athletic meet Tuesday presided by Principal S. Rajamahendran and with K.Pathmanathan, the Kilinochchi Regional Deputy Director of Education as chief-guest, Education officials said. The school was occupied by the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) during 1996 'Sathjeya' offensive and resumed classes in 2000 after Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam recaptured Kilinochchi in the 'Unceasing waves' offensive in 1998.
Meanwhile, Killinochchi St. Teresa Girls' College held its inter-house sports meet with Ms. Sulogini, Karachchi Regional Secretary as chief guest and presided by its principal Ms. Jeyanthi Thanabalasingam on Tuesday, education officials said. Killinochchi Aiyanrapuram School too held its inter-house athletic meet headed by I. Rajaratnam, the principal and Killinochchi Regional Deputy Director of Education as the chief-guest gave away prizes for the winners, sources said. SLA forced Killinochchi Central College to move to Akkarayan to use the school buildings as a key logistical centre for during its war with the Tigers. The remains of one of the College buildings destroyed by the Sri Lanka armed forces is preserved in its ruined state as memorial of the invasion, college officials said.
