Italian NGO donates boatyard to Muttur east fisheries federation

Inter SOS, an Italian non-governmental organization which has been engaged in rehabilitating the tsunami destroyed fishing industry in Muttur east, in the Trincomalee district handed over its Boatyard in Kadatkaraichchenai and its office building to the Muttur Fisheries Societies Federation (MFSF).
Ms Barbara of Inter SOS handed over the building and the Boatyard to Mr.Krishnapillai, MFSF President at an event held Saturday. Ms Barbara and Mr.Elilan, Trincomalee district political head of the LTTE declared open the MFSF office building. Mr.Elilan thanked the Italian NGO for its generous gesture in handing over its boatyard after at it services in the Muttur fisheries federation for further development in the fishing
industry, sources said. Mr.Theepan, Co-ordinator of the Trincomalee District Fisheries Federation and Mr. Vincent, Officer-in-Charge of the Thamileelam Police also participated in the event. Mr.Pulavar, head of the Sea Tigers in Trincomalee district lit the flame of sacrifice. Inter SOS organization had constructed about 50 fibreglass boats and distributed among tsunami affected fisher families in the Muttur east, sources said.  Inter SOS Representative hands over documents of transferring the boatyard and the building to Mr.Krishnapillai, President of Muttur Fisheries Societies Federation.
