Liberation Tigers Trincomalee district political Head, Elilan, registered a complaint with the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) Sunday that Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) soldiers had entered the LTTE held coastal areas from Ilakanthai to Mankerni in the Muttur east division and fired at a group of fishermen, violating the CeaseFire Agreement (CFA), sources said. Sixteen fishermen in eight fishing boats in Koddadi near Ilakanthai were fishing within 200 meters of the shore line when SLN fired at them, according to LTTE political office.

Ganesh Commemoration"SLN soldiers entered the sea area held by the LTTE and fired at fishing boats and chased them away from fishing. Fishermen had fled to the shore leaving their nets and related fishing gear in the sea. SLN soldiers had also fired at LTTE cadres who were in the shore in the LTTE held coastal line," Mr.Elilan said further in his complaint to the SLMM.

Mr.Elilan has requested the SLMM to take immediate steps to stop the Sri Lanka Navy from violating the ceasefire agreement, SLMM sources said.
