Workshop on "Peace and Muslims" held in Kalmunai

One-day workshop on the topic "Peace and Muslims" was held Sunday in Kalmunai Mahmud Girls College. Muslim Women Research Action Front (MWRAF) and Network for Sustainable Community Development (NESCOD) organized the event. Deshabandu Ms Jezeema Ismail chairperson of these two organization presided.

Muslim theologians, trustees of Mosques and Muslim academicians from the districts of Amparai, Trincomalee and Batticaloa participated in the workshop.

Mr.M.S. Jaleel, Regional Co-ordinator of the MWRAF, Moulavi S.L.M.Haniffa, President of the Amparai District Mosques Federation, Moulavi Ahamed Anzar Mowlana, Lecturer of the South Eastern University, and Ms Salma Hamza, Vice president of the MWRAF also attended the workshop.

Papers were submitted on several topics such as stressing the need to bring unity among Muslims and to promote harmony between Muslims and other communities. Discussion was held to find ways and means to promote better understanding between communities, sources said.
