Mullaitivu fishermen receive fishing nets, accessories

The Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) under its accelerated rehabilitation project after tsunami with the funding of the Church of South India handed over a consignment of fishing nets to affected fishermen in Mullaitivu district at an event held Friday. Mr.Maraiyarasa, President of the Fisheries Co-operative Federation presided over the event, sources said.

Rev.Fr. A.Jeyakumar spoke at the event. Mr. Lawrence Christie, Planning Director of the TRO and Mr.E.Robert, Administrative Head of the TRO Accelerated Rehabilitation Project and several beneficiaries participated in the event. Meanwhile, a vocational training course was inaugurated Friday in Aandankulam village in Mannar district. Tamil Rehabilitation Organization is conducting this training course under its Community Restoration and Infrastructure Development Project (CRIDP) with the support of the Mannar TRO office and with the funding of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), sources said. Mr.A.Loganathan, presided over the inaugural event held in the TRO's CRIDP hall in the village, sources said. Mr.P.Mariyanayagam Croos, President of the Mannar TRO, Mr.Kandeepan, Engineer, and instructors Messrs A.K.Irshard, Yude Genoba and P.Mariina Croos spoke at the event.
