Trinco art exhibition promotes community amity

The Trincomalee District Development Association (TDDA) held a one-day Art Exhibition labelled "Kids in touch" in Trincomalee Hindu Cultiral Hall with the financial assistance of the Save the Children-Sri Lanka (SciSL) Saturday to promote better understanding between all three communities and to ensure peace in the district, sources said.

Members of the Children Clubs established by the TDDA in the divisional secretariat divisions of Muttur, Kinniya, Kantalai and Trincomalee Town and Gravets participated in the exhibition. Drawings of children promoting peace were exhibited. Mr.T.Thavasilingam, Chairman of the Consortium of the Non-Governmental Organizations in the Trincomalee district was the chief guest. Mr.S.Lakshmanan, President of the TDDA presided. Mr.Thavasilingam said the exhibition has provided a better forum for the children of all three communities to interact and share their experiences in promoting peace in the district. All three communities live in the district.
