SLMM Trinco head meets Elilan in Sampoor

Mr.Ove Jansen, new head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in Trincomalee district, Tuesday morning met with Mr.S.Elilan, Trincomalee district political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and held discussions on the latest volatile situation in the Muttur east coastal villages which were attacked by Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), LTTE sources in the eastern town said.
Mr.Ove Jansen inspected the damages caused to the civilian houses and residential areas in the coastal villages, Soodaikuda, Koonitivu, Kadatkaraichchenai and Sampoor following the shell and gunboat attack by the Sri Lanka Navy on Monday and Tuesday. Mr.Elilan accompanied the SLMM
team, the sources said.  Mr.Elilan and Mr.Ove Jansen.
Mr.Elilan brought to the notice of the SLMM Trincomalee head the urgency of identifying the boundary in the sea controlled by the LTTE to avoid further clashes and tension between the SLN when LTTE cadres are engaged in transport and training in areas of sea under their control. The boundary in the sea controlled by the LTTE and SLN should be identified to avert serious clash
between the SLN and LTTE in the future, Elilan told Mr Jansen, sources said. Mr.Elilan wanted the SLMM Trincomalee head to take immediate steps stop attacks by the SLN gunboats. Mr.Elilan said he brought to the notice of Mr. Jansen the steps taken to hand over the two home guards now detained by the LTTE to their relatives or representatives. The LTTE cadres took these home guards into custody on March when they entered the LTTE controlled territory. Mr.Ove Jansen met the LTTE Trincomalee leadership Wednesday for the first after he assumed the post of the head of SLMM in Trincomalee district succeeding Mr. Arthur Tveiten, sources said.
