LTTE hands over home guards to Muslim leaders

Mr.S.Elilan, Trincomalee district political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Thursday morning handed over the two Muslim home guards to leaders of the Mosques Councils in Muttur and Thoppur. The home guards were arrested by LTTE members when they entered into the Eachchilampathu divisional secretariat division, an area held by the LTTE, on 14 March.
The handing over took place at the LTTE Trincomalee district political secretariat in Sampoor located in Muttur east in the presence of Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) members in Trincomalee district, LTTE sources said. The home guards were handed over to Muslim religious leaders to promote harmony and better understanding with Muslim people, a brief statement issued by the LTTE in Trincomalee said.  The released two home guards (extreme left) are seen with Muslim religious leaders, Mr.Elilan, SLMM Trincomalee head Mr.Ove Jansen.
