Body found in Batticaloa belongs to Ex-LTTE cadre

Body of a young male recovered near the Batticaloa lagoon near Pillaiyarady on Monday has been identified by his wife as belonging to an ex-member of Liberation Tigers' Jayanthan Brigade who had left the LTTE and was working as a day laborer, sources in Batticaloa said.
Vairamutthu Arulpragasam, 32, from Valluvar Road in Karaveddy, Vavunathivu was a member of the LTTE for nine years, left the organization to get married in 2002, Ms Logitharajah Vasuki, 22, his wife said, identifying his body in the presence of Batticaloa Judge Vinobha Indran and Medical Officer M.M.A. Rahman, sources said. The medical inquiry and identification was held Wednesday at 11.30 a.m. at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, medical sources said. Arulpragasam is a father of two children. Ms Vasuki told the Judge that her husband used to go in search of work and usually stays away two to three months at a time before returning home. She saw her husband last on the 20 November 2005 when he left home to harvest paddy as a laborer. The Magistrate after the inquiry handed the body over to Ms Vasuk and her relatives, medical sources said.
