Save-the-Children funded Pre-School opens in Muttur East

A Pre-School in Sampoor Maha Vidiyalayam in Muttur east constructed by the Save the Children Sri Lanka (SciSL) at a cost 1.4 million rupees was opened Thursday, sources in Muttur said.

At the commencement, Ms Jeya Thambiah, Head of the Early Childhood Education Development of the North East Provincial Education Ministry lit the traditional oil lamp and Trincomalee district head of the Thamileelam Students Forum Mr.Puratchi hoisted the Thamileelam National Flag. Mr.S.Arulnesan, Trincomalee district manager of the SciSL unveiled the name board of the school and Trincomalee district Sea Tigers Special Commander Pulavar unveiled the plaque of the new building, sources said. Two weeks ago students of Sampoor Maha Vidiyalayam had to flee from their classrooms to escape artillery shell attacks by Sri Lanka Navy towards the village. The Sri Lanka government and other UN agencies, which speak about child rights and their welfare, are turning blind eye to these attacks by the SLN, said Mr.Elilan.
