TRO supplies dry ration to Trincomalee victims

Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO) in Trincomalee district Sunday commenced distributing dry ration relief to Tamil families who have sought refuge in schools and public buildings in the suburbs of east port town. About two hundred and fifty Tamil families fled in the Friday violence sought refuge in Anpuvallipuram Kalaimagal Vidiyalayam and Varothiayanagar Barati Vidiyalayam as thugs burned down their houses with other properties.
Meanwhile hundreds of resettled Tamil families in the villages Kanniya, Managaiootu and Killikunchcumalai are trapped in their houses without transport to come and buy their provisions following the violence. TRO has made necessary arrangement to transport dry ration and other foodstuff to these villages, Mr.C.Kumarakurubaran, Deputy Director of the TRO in Trincomalee said. The Government Agent in Trincomalee has also agreed to provide free dray ration to these affected families and has instructed his village level officers in the affected areas to prepare a list of victims needed immediate assistance. The GA has taken this step on representation made to him by Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham, Trincomalee district parliamentarian Sunday morning. Several other non-governmental organizations in the east port town including Social Development Centre, Sarvodhya and Methodist Church have also dispatched relief assistance to these families, sources said.
