Armed robberies rise in Eravur

Two armed robberies by masked men in Vantharumoolai and motocycle and bicycle thefts in Rameshpuram, Thalavai and Armugathankudiyiruppu in the Eravur police division in Batticaloa have been reported to Eravur police Saturday.

An armed, masked gang entering the houses of Pias Rameshkumar and Kanapathipillai Puwanendran in Vantharumoolai on Saturday robbed rupees four hundred thousand worth jewellery and cash, police said.

On the same day, Ramachandran Kamalanath of Rameshpuram in Chenkalady was waylaid when returning home from Batticaloa by masked armed men who hijacked his motorcycle.

Armed, masked men robbed Seeni Mohamed Usanar of Sadam Hussein village in Eravur of his motorcycle when he was on his way to buy fish in Thalavai and in Arumugathan Kudirupu street in Eravur, Shahribthamby Kabeel's bicycle, Earavur police said.
