Bridge bomb explodes in Nelliyadi

A bomb fixed under a bridge exploded on Nelliyadi - Pointpedro Road at 7:15 a.m. Monday. No casualties were reported, police said. All traffic remained blocked for more than an hour, civilian sources said. Nelliyadi remains tense since Saturday when two auto-rikshaw drivers were shot and killed in a terror campaign targeting auto-rickshaw drivers in Jaffna.

The bridge bomb targeted a road patrol of Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers, Police said.

The explosion took place in front of Sri Lanka Electricty Board office between Nelliyadi and Malu-Santhi.
