Two Homeguards, one Ex-LTTE cadre shot dead in Vavuniya

Two homeguards were shot dead in Thutuwewa Vavuniya at 11.30 a.m. and a former member of Liberation Tigers was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Maravankulam area Monday morning, sources from Vavuniya said.

Sunil Ratnayake and Kirthi Sri, both homeguards, were returning home for vacation when they were shot dead by unknown gunmen.

Their bodies have been taken to Vavuniya Teaching Hospital for postmortem examinations.

Thutuwewa is located 12 km Southeast of Vavuniya town.

Meanwhile, gunmen driving a white van shot dead Rasanayagam Jegan, 25, a former member of Liberation Tigers early morning Monday, Vavuniya police said.
