Gunmen kill two Tamil civilians, injure one in Muttur

Unidentified gunmen shot dead two Tamil passengers, including a 12-year old boy, who were travelling in a Trincomalee bound bus from Muttur town, Saturday afternoon. Another Tamil passenger was critically injured in the attack. This incident took place at Puliyadichchanthi in the Sri Lanka government controlled Muttur town located in the midst of several camps and sentry points of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA).
Armed persons came on a motorbike and stopped the bus along Muttur-Batticaloa road. Thereafter the gunmen entered the bus and fired at the passengers, the sources said. The passangers who were killed in the attack was identified as: Vimalanathan Sajeevan,12, of Koonitheivu in Muttur East and Krishnapillai Ravichandran, 43, Menkamam in Muttur division. (He is not from Manayaveli, as erroneously stated in the earlier report). The injured passenger, Nadarajah Paranthaman of Allesgarden, was admitted to the Muttur government hospital, and latter transfered to Trincomalee hospital as his conditions bacame critical, hospital sources in the eastern town said. The bodies of the dead are lying in the mortuary and the Muttur Magistrate ordered post-mortem examination. Relatives of the dead had arrived at the hospital to identify the bodies.
