US-based Tamil organizations are to jointly conduct a peace march in front of the United Nations Head Quarters in New York Friday, between 2.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. to protest against the violence on Tamil civilians by the Government of Sri Lanka and the paramilitaries, a leaflet sent to Tamil Americans said.
"By conducting this rally in front of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, all Tamils living in America will shed light to the entire world, on the continuous state terrorism, atrocities, violence and genocide inflicted upon the Tamil people by the Sri Lankan Government, Military, Army backed Para Militants and troops.
Let us fight for the political rights of all Tamils," the leaflet said. The Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA) is holding its annual event on July 1-3 at Manhattan Central Studios, and several thousand Tamils are expected to attend the event. Many Tamil Sri Lankan families are expected to arrive early to attend the rally in front of the UN, organizers of the peace march said.
