Muttur east schools to conduct special session for IDP students

Classes for internally displaced students in Muttur east would be held in schools in the afternoon after the first session for students of the area in the morning. This decision has been taken at a discussion held in Ilankaithurai Muhathuwaram School in Eachchilampathu division Monday morning. Principals and teachers of schools now functioning in Eachchilampathu division participated in the discussion. The objective of the discussion was to provide uninterrupted education to internally displaced students from Muttur east coastal villages following continuous artillery fire by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), sources said.

Mr.K.Ratnasingham, Principal of Chenaiyoor Central College presided. Mr.S.Elilan, Trincomalee district political head of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) requested the principals and teachers to see the internally displaced students who are sheltered in welfare centres and other buildings located close to their schools are provided with uninterrupted education facilities. He appealed to local education authorities to organize daily afternoon classes for internally IDP students after morning session for students of the area.
