2 Policemen, civilian wounded in grenade attack

Two Sri Lankan Police Constables and a civilian were wounded in a grenade attack that took place in Kaluwanchikudy, 24 km southeast of Batticaloa town, on Batticaloa Kalmunai main road around 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

Unidentified youth riding a bicycle lobbed a grenade at policemen who had come to tailoring shop in the town.

The wounded policemen, S.W.Jayaratne, 36, and M.Gunadasa, 33 and the shop owner S.Rasaratnam,36 were rushed to Kaluwanchikudy hospital and later transferred to Amparai hospital, police said.
