Claymore ambush in Mannar, SLA Lieutenant, trooper wounded

A lieutenant and a soldier of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) were injured in a Claymore explosion that took place Monday morning around 6:45 a.m. at Vanchiankulam village along Vankalai-Nanattan road in Mannar district. Both of them were immediately transferred from Mannar district hospital to Anuradhapura general hospital.

The injured were members of a group of SLA soldiers engaged in road clearing operation in the area between Naruvalikulam and Nanattan.

The Claymore mine was hidden behind a bush along the road, sources said.
