Civilians stranded in Vavuniya arrive by vessel at KKS harbour

Sri Lanka Navy chartered "Jetliner" vessel with about 948 Tamil civilians arrived Tuesday evening at the Kankesanturai port. The civilians were taken to the Jaffna Central bus stand in escorted vehicles and from there went to their homes.

A section of stranded Jaffna bound civilians in Vavuniya following the closure of A9 landroute were put on board Monday evening in the vessel anchored in Ashraff Jetty in Trincomalee harbour.

The civilians were earlier transported to Trincomalee town in eighteen buses from Vavuniya Monday afternoon. More than one thousand stranded Jaffna bound civilians are still stranded in Vavuniya waiting to leave to Jaffna via Trincomalee by vessel.
