Two brothers shot dead in Batticaloa

Two brothers were shot dead near an SLA camp, at around 5.00 a.m this morning, said sources. The brothers had gone to the beach off Santhiveli, 24 kilometres north of Batticaloa, to pull in fishing nets.

The ICRC removed the bodies of the brothers, S.Rajeswaran 26 and S.Yogeswaran 24, later on in the morning they said.

The bodies have been handed over to the Valaichenai hospital.

Fishermen who were close to the spot where the brothers were killed have alleged that the shots were fired from the SLA camp in the that area, said the sources.
