Orders have been issued to distribute rations for displaced people in all the other 19 districts, except the LTTE controlled Kilinochi and Mullaitheevu districts.

The order was issued by the Commissioner of Essential Services and the head of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority for the Northeast province, Mr. N. A. Obadage on September the 9., following talks he had with the president on Monday.

They agreed to distribute same amount of rations as in June to refugees in Amparai, Baticaloa, Trincomalee and other districts.

It is further announced that rations not distributed for the past months, will not be delivered. The commissioner's office further disclosed that there are some 800 000 displaced persons receiving rations in the 19 districts, and that so far this year the Government has spent Rs. 150 million on relief aid and another Rs.190 million is needed for the rest of the year.

The commissioner is to meet the president again for talks on resolving the matter of distributing rations for displaced people in Mullaitheevu and Kilinochi districts. Rations have not been delivered to these areas for the past months.
