Two shot dead, one seriously injured in two incidents in Jaffna

Two armed men on motorcycle shot dead a youth and seriously injured his cousin Monday night around 7:00 p.m, near Lourdes Church at Thumpalai in Point Pedro while two gunmen on motor cycle shot dead Tuesday morning a trader at Viyaparimoolai in Point Pedro.
The young man shot dead Monday night was identified as Sebamalai David, 27, a fisherman. The seriously injured man is his cousin John Jesudas, 37, from Kochchikadai in Colombo. David was standing in front of his house at Thumpalai with his cousin Jesudas when the armed men shot at them. The seriously injured Jesudas was first rushed to Point Pedro Base hospital and then transferred to Jaffna Teaching Hospital as his condition grew critical, hospital sources said. The trader shot dead Tuesday morning was identified as Manickam Jeyarasa, 36. Two unidentified armed men on motor cycle shot dead Jeyrasa in an area where Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers had been present some minutes earlier and the killers escaped in the direction where the SLA troopers went, relatives of Jeyarasa who saw the shooting said. The two dead bodies are kept at the Point Pedro Base Hospital morgue.
