Tamils who have no connections with war and terrorism are being abducted in
Colombo and other areas in the country, said Lakshman Kiriella, Kandy district United National Party parliamentarian addressing a press briefing held Thursday at the office of the Leader of the Opposition.
"Today Tamils are being abducted. Sinhalese will be abducted tomorrow.
Therefore, we should take immediate steps to stop the abductions," he added. He said several leading Tamil businessmen in Colombo have fled abroad to escape from being abducted. Sri Lanka has achieved a world record in the abduction of innocent civilians in recent months, Lakshman Kiriella said. He said the country cannot hope to make economic progress by removing ministers and appointing more ministers.
