Armed robbers shoot dead two civilians in Eravur

A group of armed men, obstructed from robbing a house at Arumugathankudirippu area in Eravur police division in Batticaloa, shot dead two civilians who tried to prevent the robbery, around 10:30 p.m Tuesday.

The victims were identified as Mamankam Vadivel, 41 and his cousin Kanapathy Kandiah, 60.

The dead bodies of the victims are kept at Eravur district hospital.

Arumugathankudiruppu is located 15 km north of Batticaloa, on the boundary of Sri Lanka Army controlled Eravur Muslim village.
