STF kills 3 youths in Batticaloa

Special Task force (STF) personnel shot dead three Tamil youths Wednesday around 1:15 a.m near the Kallady
camp in Batticaloa, Kathankudy police, said. The Police recovered the bodies and handed them over to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital. The bodies remain unidentified, according to hospital sources.
The STF said that the three youths had approached their camp intending to attack the camp and the troopers lying in
ambush had opened fire, killing all three. The bodies were recovered in the search conducted following the attack, STF sources added. Kathankudy police said they recovered a claymore device, a T-56 type rifle with cartridges and 4 hand grenades lying near the bodies of the killed youths. Liberation Tigers have not commented on the incident. Kallady STF camp is located 2 km from Batticalo town, along the coast.
