Sri Lanka Armed Forces arrested seven Tamil civilians at Teldeniya in Kandy in the Central Province and 38 civilians in Dambulla and its suburbs in the North Central Province in cordon off and search operations conducted Thursday.
Teldeniya police said they are interrogating the arrested seven civilians as they have failed to establish their identity with valid documents. Majority of the 38 civilians arrested in Dambulla and its suburbs are natives of north, east and other parts of the country and these persons were taken into custody as they had failed to give valid reasons for their presence at Dambulla and to prove their identity, police sources said. The arrested civilians in both places are being detained in the respective police stations for further investigation.
