Youth shot dead in Va'ra'ni

Three unidentified men armed with T56 rifles forced their way e into the house of a youth along Kodikaamam-Point Pedro road at Yaththaalai, Va'ra'ni in Thenma'raadchi, and shot the youth dead at point blank range, Tuesday around 10:00 a.m.
The victim was identified as Thavarasa Sujitharan, 19. Sujitharan tried to escape running inside a room and locking himself but the killers forced open the door and sprayed him with bullets, sources said. Kodikaamam police recovered the body and handed it over to Jaffna Teaching hospital for postmortem examinations. The victim's house is located in the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) High Security Zone (HSZ) where its 52nd Brigade Base is also located. Gunmen shooting some one in day light inside a house along a busy main road within the HSZ of the SLA reflects the predicament of the local residents, civil society sources in Jaffna said. Sujitharan is the seventh person to be shot dead in Yaththaalai area in Thenma'raadchchi.
