Grenade attack injures 10 refugees in Kaaththaankudi

An unidentified attacker threw a hand grenade Thursday night at 10:20 p.m. at a refugee camp located at Saratha Vidyalayam in Magnchaththoduvaay in Kaaththaankudi police division in Batticaola district, injuring ten civilians, sources in Batticaloa said.
The incident occurred when the civilians in the refugee camp were
watching television outside their tents, according to witnesses. Four of the injured were women, Kaaththaankudi police said. The victims have been identified as Kanapathypillai

Segar, Sivarasa Nirmala, Sivarasa Suthagar, Packiyarajah Kalaimathy, Thiyagarajah Sivarasa, Mailvaganam Malini, Sabapathy Rajanikanth, Sinrasa Sinnathamby, and Sasikaran Viyakumar. The injured were admitted to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital. Nearly 200 families displaced from Muthur and Sampur areas in Trincomalee district due to Sri Lankan Army (SLA) offensive, are currently living in temporary tents in the camp. Kaaththaankudi is located 6 km south of Batticaloa.
