The body of a youth, estimated to be about 25 years old, was found along V.H Lane in Irupaalai East, Jaffna Saturday morning, sources in Jaffna said. The body had several gunshot wounds to the head and upper body, local residents who saw the body said. The youth was wearing a black trouser and brown shirt.

Residents speculated that the youth was killed in another location and the body was brought by the killers and dumped at the Irupaalai location. They added that sounds of vehicular activity at the crime scene were heard Friday midnight.

Following notification to the Kopay Police by the Irupaalai East Village Officer ("Kirama Ceavaiyaa'lar"), the Police recovered the body and transferred the body to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.

Jaffna District Court Judge, R.T.Vignarajah, directed the Police to take steps to identify the body and to handover the body to the relatives after identification.
