A young woman with 2 children from Naaraanthanai in Kayts has disappeared in Trincomalee where she had gone to get a ticket on a ship bound to Jaffna, parents said in a complaint made to Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Jaffna. The woman has not been seen or heard from after 13 April, the complaint said.
Ms. Anjani Robert Lessia, 36, left to Colombo on 11 March to receive her husband from abroad. As he could not return as planned due to the volatile situation in Sri Lanka, Lessia had phoned her parents on April 13 and had proceeded to Trincomalee to travel back to Jaffna on the passenger ship. Meanwhile, Sivasami Raku, 24, a mentally retarded youth from Velea'nai in the islets of Jaffna had gone missing since 19 April, after he was seen last on his way to Jaffna town by his parents, the complaint at HRC Jaffna by Raku's parents said.
