9 bodies of LTTE cadres recovered in FDL encounter, says SLA

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) said Thursday that they handed over six bodies of Liberation Tigers killed during firefight at the Vavuniyaa Forward Defence Lines (FDL) bringing the total to nine bodies recovered and lying in Vavuniyaa General Hospital. SLA sources further said they are seeking assistance from the ICRC to transfer the bodies to the LTTE.
The three other bodies, Tamil youth killed in a clash with SLA at Ira'nai Iluppaikku'lam on May 14 and two youths killed in a clash at Pampaimadu area on May 16 evening were already handed over to the Vavuniyaa general hospital, sources said. Vavuniyaa Police said that during similar attacks by the SLA in Palamoaddai and Mu'l'likku'lam Thursday and Wednesday several LTTE cadres were killed and the bodies are lying in decomposed state. No further details are available. LTTE has not commented on the claim by the SLA.
