Four fishermen from Mannar (Mannaar), arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) in Neduntheevu seas, were produced before the Kayts Court and released unconditionally on Monday, Mannar sources said.

SLN arrested the fishermen and confiscated their boat stating that they have entered the Neduntheevu seas without permission.

After preliminary investigation, the SLN handed them over to the Kayts Police who produced them before the District Judge.

The fishermen explained the Judge that they had lost control of their boat due to the rough seas.

Five other fishermen who have gone missing in the same area have not been found yet, sources said.
