Mallaakam district court magistrate, Ms. Sarojini Illankovan conducted the inquest into death at the site and directed the body to be handed over to Jaffna Teaching hospital.

Thiruchelvam Thiruparan, 19, from Chunaakam was identified as the youth killed.

The victim had gone missing in Chunaakam area while riding on his motor bicycle, taking food to his father who is an employee at the Electricity Power Plant in Chunaakam.

Persons who went searching for the missing youth found his body.

His motor cycle was found abandoned in a vegetable cultivation plot around 500 meters from the Power Station.

Thiruparan, who had been receiving continuous death threats, had obtained permission from Sri Lanka Army (SLA) authorities to travel to Colombo with the view to escape death.

He was killed two days after having obtained the SLA travel permit and was ready to leave to Colombo.

Many youths and young family members from I'nuvil, Chunnaakam areas who had obtained SLA permission to leave Jaffna peninsula, had been killed two or three days after, the residents said.
