4 Tamil youths arrested in Kandy

Kandy Police town took four Tamil youths, natives of Vavuniya, Walapane, Ginigathena in Kandy, and Mahiywa into custody on Thursday night. They are being detained by Kandy police for further investigation, Police said. At that time of arrest, the all except the youth from Vavuniya were not in possession of national identity cards and other required documents to prove their identity and the purpose of their stay, according to Police sources.

The youth from Vavuniya had come to visit her sister residing in Talawakelle in Kandy district. Although he produced his national identity card but failed to give reason for staying in Kandy instead of Talawakelle. He was taken into custody to find out the reason for his visit to Kandy, police sources said.

Details of the others arrested are not known.
