The central working committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), main constituent of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) government decided Wednesday night at its special meeting to take disciplinary action against the sacked ministers Mr.Mangala Samaraweera and Mr.Sripathi Sooriyarachchi. Political sources said the SLFP had decided on the tough measure against rebel parliamentarians following the failure of reconciliatory moves initiated by Mr.Alavi Moulana. Mr.Moulana is a veteran trade union leader and also a senior member of the party. Currently he holds the post of Western n Province Governor. The party also decided to serve show cause notice immediately on Mr.Sripathi Sooriyarachchi who is in the country why the party should not subject him to disciplinary action. The party further decided to wait for the arrival of Mr.Mangala Samaraweera from London to serve show cause notice on him for alleged anti-party activities and violating party principles, sources said. The meeting commenced its deliberations around 7 p.m. Wednesday after the arrest of Mr.Tiran Alles, a close associate of Mr.Mangala Samaraweera and Mr.Sripathi Sooriyarachchi, sources said.
