[TamilNet, Tuesday, 03 July 2007, 17:03 GMT]
A mother of four children from Allaarai north in Meesaalai in
Thenmaraadchi is reported missing since February 24, while she was
returning home after medical treatment at Jaffna Teaching hospital,
according to the complaint made by her mother Tuesday to Human Rights
Commission (HRC) Jaffna office. The complainant said that she
suspects her daughter being arrested or abducted on the way home in a
bus along Jaffna-Kandy road.
Ms. Tharumarasa Conseira, 38, was living with her children in Meesaalai.
Conseira's mother said that her daughter's husband and relatives got trapped in
Vanni when the A9 land route was closed by Sri Lanka Army last year. She further said that she sought the help of the HRC as there is no
information about her missing daughter and because of the fear of her fate. Relatives of Consiera had seen her boarding the bus to Meesaalai at
Jaffna bus terminal after getting medicine at Jaffna Teaching
hospital, on February 24, her mother said. In a similar case, a young mother from Veala'nai was reported missing
to the HRC earlier.
